Love this little gem in the heart of New Braunfels. On upflow of the river clean shallow water followed with little rapids and then deep water with little gravel beach. To get a good spot we needed to come early on weekends because parking cab be a problem. But still it’s so peaceful in the morning
Had a fun time chit chatting with the owner of this gallery. Some nice local pieces too. Fun to hang in downtown historic gruene. Thanks!
Love natural history. Great displays that can travel to your location.
I’m so glad we arranged a tour of this museum. I wasn’t sure what to expect. Greg opened the museum for us and took the time to give us a great deal of information about local history, the history of firefighting, and, of course, the history of the fire station. They just celebrated 100 years, and dedicated the station as a Texas historic landmark. They’re the third oldest fire station in Texas. And the best part, he let us sit in the fire trucks!
The Museum of Homemade Furniture is a step back in time to the mid 19th Century Texas. The museum fills every room with handmade craftsmanship. Beds, cabinets, desks, etc. Are on display to see up close (just don’t touch). Unfortunately pictures are not allowed inside the museum (not sure why). But trust me it’s worth the $8. A much unexpected bonus are the various cottages and buildings on the grounds that show (sometimes demonstrate) skills and crafts of that time.
My cousin had her baby shower here recently. It was a beautiful antique style venue that included a full kitchen. They do require cleanup at the end but I was told the rental price was not bad. My kids enjoyed looking at all the old antiques.
Fantastic little hidden gem of a Children’s Mueseum! Obviously very kid friendly, & the staff is great! My son loves coming here frequently as he has been brought by my wife alot but today I got to come aswell and found a great place for kids much bigger than I thought. I will definitely bring the kids back more especially once my 10 month old becomes more mobile aswell! We are also going to look into a membership since we are coming so frequently.
So much fun for all ages. I’m pregnant so couldn’t ride too many rides but we still had fun. The Kristal River was awesome. Kids loved the Falls and the kiddie area in the original park.
It’s so incredible to have these caverns so close! Beautiful and incredible, worth a trip for sure.
Rebecca Creek is such a fun place to hang out! Take a tour to learn about the distillery, have a cocktail, do a whiskey tasting, or just hang out and listen to live music! There are food trucks and a fun garden.
Dry Comal Creek is a wonderful little winery that’s very close, and a great place to hang out! Have a tasting, or just have a glass or a bottle! They have some bites to eat and sometimes food trucks as well.
This area is exactly the reason we bought Whiskey River in the first place – I just love Gruene! I love the atmosphere, the shopping, the food, and all the live music. The history is amazing as well…the area was settled in the mid 1840s, and Gruene Hall is Texas’ oldest dance hall! Check out the website linked here, there’s always live music going on, and there are festivals all year. Everything is walkable from the condo, which is a huge benefit as parking and driving in Gruene can be a challenge – we’re just down the road!
Great outdoor concert venue between New Braunfels and Canyon Lake. Sometimes Rockin R runs a park and ride, such that you could get a ride to the concert and back for $25 with a reservation.
